Stretching is a type of aerobics that consists of a set of stretching exercises.

The classes are suitable for absolutely everyone, regardless of age or flexibility. To achieve optimal results, flexibility exercises should be performed daily. You can do all the exercises consecutively or choose some selectively.

First, you need to determine what exactly you want from stretching classes:

  • The classes stimulate blood circulation and lymphatic flow;
  • Thanks to the exercises included in the final part of the training sessions, they contribute to muscle recovery by returning from a contracted state to its original state;
  • The exercises alleviate pain caused by stress and tension in the nervous system;
  • The aging process in the body slows down;
  • They help maintain muscle elasticity;
  • Mental tension decreases;
  • The body becomes more flexible, and posture improves.

Nuances of Stretching Classes

You should stretch only to a certain limit. Stretching should not cause pain.

  • When stretching, do not bounce; instead, you should hold the position.
  • It’s better to do stretching training after physical exercise.
  • During stretching exercises, you need to breathe properly: do not hold your breath and do not force the exhalation. Breathing should be normal and calm. In between exercises, you can take a deep inhale and exhale.

Examples of Exercises

1. Reach your arms up and stretch, raising your chest and shoulders.

2. Place your arms behind you, clasp your palms, pull in your stomach, and lean forward as low as you can.

3. Bend your knees and lean forward to touch the floor with your hands. Then straighten your knees and slowly arch your back. Bend your knees again and return to the starting position.

Contraindications

This type of exercise differs from others in that it is widely used in massage and therapeutic physical training. Thanks to popular exercises, relaxation can be achieved. Before starting aerobics, it is essential to consult with a specialist. They are suitable for everyone allowed to engage in physical conditioning.

What distinguishes stretching from other types of aerobics?

In general, all types of aerobics relate to Western physical exercises, while stretching is an Eastern health methodology. All types of aerobic training end with stretching exercises. Stretching is used in yoga and martial arts. Stretching classes provide options beyond just being able to do the splits. There are many exercises that promote the stretching of neck muscles, back, arms, and legs, making joints more flexible. Moreover, stretching is an essential component of a gymnastics routine for health improvement. It includes an anti-cellulite program utilized by athletes during training for many sports.

During the exercises, there is an alternation: muscles briefly tense, then relax. Thanks to this, they stop tensing, recover strength, and fatigue dissipates.

Stretching has only positive aspects. The main advantage lies in its proximity to natural movements. Just think, what could be more pleasant than stretching after a good night's sleep? The same feeling occurs when you stretch after prolonged sitting. Stretching alleviates feelings of drowsiness and fatigue.
