How to lose weight with bran?

Often, the reasons for excess weight are related to improper nutrition. Such people consume a large amount of baked goods and various sweets. Nowadays, most products are processed, resulting in them lacking important components that contribute to normal digestion. Bran is gaining popularity, especially among those who are losing weight.

Bran and its Varieties

Bran is, roughly speaking, the byproduct of grain milling. It is the rather tough husk of grains. Despite this, they are very beneficial. They serve as cleansers for the body. In addition to being consumed as food, they are also used as a facial mask. Bran contains elements and vitamins, but the most important aspect is that they have fiber, which is essential for the body.

Bran comes in:

1. Wheat Bran. It is obtained as a result of the milling process. Previously, this byproduct was given as feed for livestock. But now, people consume it. It brings only benefits: it cleanses the body, helps prevent diabetes, and is good for blood vessels. Bran is also important for both men and women. It contains acids that regulate the amount of estrogen. And, of course, it helps with weight loss.

2. Rye Bran. It is produced after processing rye grains. However, bran contains all the trace elements that the grains themselves have. It helps the body resist infectious respiratory diseases. It supports acceptable blood sugar levels. It normalizes the digestive tract. It cleanses the body of harmful substances. Rye bran is good for those with a heightened appetite, as one of its properties is to satiate the body and keep the feeling of hunger at bay for a long time.

3. Barley Bran. It has cleansing properties. It contains a large amount of fiber, vitamins, and elements necessary for the body.

4. Oat Bran. This type of bran is good for reducing cholesterol levels. It does this much faster than other types of bran. The fiber it contains nourishes the intestinal microflora. It restores the normal functioning of the digestive system. They are known for their choleretic effect and are therefore often used in therapeutic diets.

5. Flax Bran. It is distinguished by its low calorie content. However, it is rich in vitamins and various trace elements. These bran are very often used for weight loss. Flax bran can reduce appetite, which is important for those with excess weight. They also cleanse the body of harmful substances.

There are other types of bran, but these are commonly used and easily purchased in stores.

Why Are Bran Used for Weight Loss?

They are rich in vitamins and elements that the body needs during a diet, as excluding a large number of products can lead to a deficiency of certain substances. Bran is renowned for its fiber content. This element is responsible for all processes related to cleansing the body and reducing feelings of hunger. By introducing any type of bran into your diet, you can be sure that your metabolic processes will function as they should. It will also lower cholesterol levels and strengthen the immune system. By consuming bran, the overall condition of your body will improve. You will feel a surge of energy and vitality. You will notice improvements in the condition of your skin, hair, and nails.

Like any product, bran has contraindications. They should not be consumed by people:

  • Who have ulcers or other gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Taking vitamins and medications, as bran will hinder their absorption.

One should not overdo it. Any product eaten in excessive amounts can be harmful instead of beneficial. Therefore, it is important to understand that consuming large quantities of bran will not promote rapid weight loss and may harm health.

Proper Consumption of Bran

1. Bran should be introduced into the diet gradually for the body to adjust; otherwise, harm may be caused. Start with no more than 1 teaspoon per day, then gradually increase to 3 tablespoons.

2. It is important to take a break of one day.

3. Remember that the maximum allowable amount is 3 tablespoons per day. If you exceed this, your well-being may worsen.

4. Bran should be taken with liquids. It can be washed down with water, juices, or broths. If not, constipation may occur.

5. The optimal duration for a bran diet is up to 4 weeks. You can add 1 tablespoon 3 times a day to your meals.

6. You can have unloading days with bran, but no more than once every 10 days.

Recipes with Bran

Kefir with Bran

A great alternative to dinner. Add 1 tablespoon of bran to 1 cup of low-fat kefir. Stir and let it sit for 15 minutes. The drink is ready. It also works well as a snack. You can use any type of bran.

Bread with Bran

If you can't live without bread, you can make a diet version. Ingredients:

  • Oat bran – 6 tbsp.
  • Wheat bran – 6 tbsp.
  • Low-fat cottage cheese – 250 g.
  • Eggs – 3 pcs.
  • Baking soda – 0.5 tsp.
  • Vinegar – 0.5 tbsp.
  • Salt – a pinch

Preparation:

Mix the eggs with the cottage cheese. Gradually add the bran. Next, add salt and the vinegar to the baking soda. Mix thoroughly. Form into a loaf or any desired shape. Bake for 45 minutes in the oven at 180-200 degrees Celsius. The bread will increase in size by 1.5 times. After baking, keep it in the turned-off oven for another 30 minutes. Allow to cool and then slice.

It is important to remember that one can’t lose weight solely with bran. A comprehensive approach is needed: exercise and diet. Also, do not overdo it. Everything should be in moderation.
