LOAD ON MUSCLES
DESCRIPTION

This exercise is very effective for strengthening your oblique muscles. However, I do not recommend performing it with heavy weights or too frequently, especially for women, as it may lead to an increase in the size of your oblique muscles, thus thickening your waist.

Nuances and Mistakes

1. Keep your feet wider than shoulder-width apart. This will allow you to lean lower without moving your pelvis, which is quite important. The pelvis should remain fixed in place.

2. Lean strictly to the side. Many people, in pursuit of a deeper lean, will tilt their torso forward to lean even lower. This is unnecessary and should be avoided.

3. Do not hold a dumbbell in each hand, as the dumbbells will create counterbalance to each other, negating your efforts. Focus on training one side first, then the other.

4. Alternatively, you can perform the lean with your arms extended overhead. In this variation, your oblique muscles will work even without weights. However, if you take a 3-5 kg dumbbell with both hands, it will be quite challenging.

5. When rising, you should lean slightly toward the working muscle, effectively shortening it. This will increase the range of motion and the efficacy of the exercise.

6. The weight should be light enough that you can perform at least 15 repetitions. The lighter the weight and the more repetitions you do, the lower the chance of hypertrophying your oblique muscles and increasing your waist size.
