DESCRIPTION

The principle of this machine was invented by the famous Russian wrestler and weightlifter Georg Hackenschmidt. Therefore, the machine is named after him. Its advantage is that it creates specific angles for the legs, something that cannot be achieved with traditional squats. As a result, the load is distributed differently across the quadriceps muscle of the thigh.

Nuances and mistakes

1. The width of your foot placement makes a significant difference. If you place your feet narrower, the front of the thighs will be more engaged. If you place them wider, some of the load will shift to the inner thigh.

2. If you want to target the glutes more, position your feet higher (closer to the top edge of the platform). This way, your knees will extend less forward, and the angle at the hip joint will become sharper. The sharper the angle, the more the glutes will stretch.

3. Don’t forget that there is still a load on the spine, although it is not as significant as with a barbell. Therefore, keep your shoulders and pelvis pressed against the backrest and slightly arch your lower back.

4. At the lowest point, your knees should not extend beyond your toes. Otherwise, the knee joints will experience excessive and potentially dangerous stress.

5. The lower you squat, the better your glutes will engage. Additionally, if you do not fully straighten your legs, you will place a greater and quicker load on your thighs.
