The influence of pain stimuli on growth hormone

As mentioned earlier, β-endorphin has a colossal effect on the secretion of growth hormone. No other pharmacological agent can increase the secretion of GH by 30 times, regardless of the doses used. Since this substance is currently unavailable in our market, the only way to utilize it remains to stimulate the body's own synthesis of β-endorphin.
Several types of endorphins have now been isolated and synthesized—α, β, and γ-endorphins, dinorphin, β-neoendorphin, and α-neoendorphin. Fragments of endorphins, known as enkephalins, have also been produced, which exhibit morphine-like effects—such as leu-enkephalin and met-enkephalin. Both endorphins and enkephalins can interact with the brain's receptors (as well as those in non-brain tissues) that perceive morphine. However, unlike morphine, as previously stated, they do not have harmful side effects and do not cause addiction.
Notably, endorphins and enkephalins are produced not only in the central nervous system but also in the gastrointestinal tract, and their production largely depends on dietary factors.
Currently known methods of controlled painful stimulation are:

Multi-needle bed. This is usually made from silver-plated radio contacts embedded in a rubber mat. It can also be made using Kuznetsov’s applicators. By the way, these applicators can simply be placed on the body and pressed down with a small weight, gradually increasing the load. The load increases gradually because, as endorphins are released, pain sensitivity decreases. With sufficiently long stimulation, there may come a moment when a person no longer feels pain at all.

Electrical spark discharge exposure. The spark discharge is applied to the surface of the body, usually using a D'Arsonval apparatus. The intensity of the spark discharge can be adjusted. Previously, treating with the D'Arsonval device required tedious trips to the clinic, but now things have changed for the better. Almost all medical equipment stores sell small portable devices suitable for home use. The set includes attachments for treating different body surfaces and internal cavities. There are many portable electrostimulators that run on regular batteries. They can deliver spark discharges just as well as the D'Arsonval apparatus, except they do not have the specialized attachments that the D'Arsonval device has.

Acupuncture. Traditional acupuncture is performed by a specialist at specific biologically active points. However, simplified versions exist, such as treating certain areas of the body with a multi-needle hammer. This procedure can even be performed by a layperson. There are also special needle rollers that "roll" over specific body parts. Certain areas of the body, when treated with a multi-needle hammer or by applying Kuznetsov’s applicator, can induce a significantly increased release of endorphins. One such area is the collar zone. The back of the neck and trapezius muscles are common features of the collar zone. When a skilled reflexologist treats this collar zone with a multi-needle hammer, the release of endorphins is so great that all sensations experienced by the person are akin to those of someone who has been administered morphine. Initially, there is a general sense of relaxation. If there was any minor pain, it first diminishes and then completely disappears. Gradually, mood improves, and one feels like laughing for no reason at all. After the session, sleep occurs, much like after morphine administration.
Pain massage. This is a special type of massage aimed at causing the patient moderate pain. Regular general massage also stimulates the release of endorphins into the bloodstream, especially when it involves a thorough treatment of the collar zone. The pain can be subthreshold and felt like normal pressure. Only after exceeding this threshold does the pain become noticeable. A good deep massage induces subthreshold pain sensations that are perceived as tactile but still lead to the release of endorphins. As endorphins are released, the pain threshold will continue to rise, so the intensity of the massage techniques can be gradually increased without the person feeling pain. Ultimately, causing moderate pain to the patient does not bring harm, while the benefits of such a massage can be significant.
Painful effects of plant chemical agents. This is performed by whipping the body with a nettle broom. Initially, this whipping is done very lightly, on the verge of touch. Then, gradually, as endorphins are released into the bloodstream, the intensity of the whipping increases because pain sensitivity has decreased due to the previous endorphin release. Eventually, a person can be whipped with nettles with full force. They still won’t feel any pain.
Stretching exercises. These exercises are performed in such a way as to cause moderate pain in the joints. The difficulty of the exercises lies in not overstretching areas that have previously been injured. There should be no exercises that compress the menisci of the knee joints. Pain in the joints should always be moderate and should be caused more by stretching than by compression.
Whipping with a broom in the bath. To induce moderate pain, not only birch brooms are used but also brooms made from coniferous trees—pine and spruce.
Despite the fact that the greatest release of endorphins occurs when impacting the collar zone—the area of the trapezius, deltoids, and the back of the neck—most effectively is the treatment of the entire back, as influencing the spinal area and surrounding tissues releases a significant amount of norepinephrine into the bloodstream, which, as we know, stimulates α-adrenergic receptors and also increases the secretion of growth hormone.
