Author: Timko Ilya - master of the whole project and fitness trainer. All articles by the author ➤
Both men and women desire a slim waist. However, since this concerns women much more, the article will primarily be aimed at them. Nevertheless, everything mentioned here applies equally to men. In this article, I will not talk about the abs. I have already said a lot about them (read here). Instead, I will briefly discuss other aspects that can make your waist thinner. 1. Don’t try to lose fat from the sides. You won’t be able to reduce fat ONLY from there. You will have to lose weight overall if you want to make your waist thinner. Training muscles in any area does not lead to fat burning in that area. You can learn about other weight loss myths here. 2. Don’t work on your obliques! This is the most common mistake! Many women, upon entering the gym, start doing thinking that it will help make their waist thinner. However, this leads to fat not being lost from the sides, and only the obliques increase in size. Therefore—DO NOT TRAIN YOUR OBLIQUES AT ALL! It will not make your figure slimmer or remove fat from the sides. To better understand why this is the case, read the article Training intensity – you can't gain muscle while losing weight. 3. Train your back. The wider your back, the slimmer your waist appears. And don’t laugh. Train your latissimus dorsi muscles. If you are a woman, your body won't allow you to make them too big, and you won't turn into a gorilla. But your waist will look more elegant. 4. Train your glutes. The principle is the same as with your back. But I think you're already training them without my advice. ) By the way, professional bodybuilders do not work on their obliques and train their abs quite minimally. After all, the abs are a muscle too, and their walls have a certain thickness. If you pay too much attention to your abs, it may lead to their thickening and a perceived increase in belly size. And you don’t want that at all. This doesn’t mean that you should avoid training them altogether. 2-3 exercises a week are quite sufficient. Any further increase in load will only waste your time and energy. So, as you can see, to make your waist as thin as possible, you need to lose fat and avoid training the obliques. Instead, actively train the surrounding body parts. So, I apologize, but I haven’t really shared any secrets or exercises with you, because there are none. I wish you luck and a slim waist!
