Important! We do not advocate for the use of steroids and other potent substances. All information is provided so that those who still decide to take them can do so with minimal health risks.

Sometimes reading the descriptions of various pharmaceutical substances by "specialists" online is quite amusing. But when you think about some young man, disillusioned with the natural approach to training, who might take and apply these masterpieces of thought on himself, it is no longer funny. I'm referring to recommendations like:

  • Using insulin for those who are struggling to gain weight.
  • Injecting 3-4 grams of AAS per week after two years of using chemicals.
  • Including growth hormone in their so-called cycles, and so on.

Once, on one of the forums, I was shocked by an authority's advice to a newbie: since your calves aren't growing, just forget about them and don’t worry. Instead, buy synthol to solve your problem once and for all.

In such moments, it really seems that the moralists opposing the promotion of pharmacology on the internet are indeed right. It's better for a kid to remain a skinny guy than to get injured or die, heaven forbid. In this article, I will try to briefly and clearly explain what beginning users should not do, and even advanced enthusiasts who do not compete should avoid. Let’s start with our beloved AAS (androgenic-anabolic steroids).

1. STANOZOLOL

One of the most dangerous and insidious steroids. Despite the vast experience of application, it is still presented as an excellent choice for a first-ever cycle. There are still those who are on it for most of the year! This primarily includes so-called "fit girls" who want to look lean and shredded year-round. Yes, stanozolol has no competitors in terms of achieving peak condition in bodybuilding and fitness. Just maintain the traditional diet for these sports, and stanozolol will literally squeeze the water out of the body—extremely quickly.

Unfortunately, its side effects are just as aggressive. IRREVERSIBLE damage to the cardiovascular system and destructive effects on ligaments, joints, and tendons are normal for this drug. It can also harm the liver just as much as methandienone and oxymetholone. Add to that the negative influence on the prostate and consider whether all these temporary physical conditions that boost your EGO are worth it.

2. FLUOXYMESTERONE

Halotestin and Halotest are commonly used names for products based on this active substance. Recently, it has been actively used by athletes in heavy weight categories when preparing for bodybuilding competitions. As is commonly assumed in amateur circles, since it's popular among the "monsters" of our beloved sport and costs a decent sum, it must be good. Maybe it will work for me too.

This steroid is utterly useless for gaining muscle. It was never intended for such properties. However, it is absurdly androgenic. Hair loss, severe acne, hypertrophy of sebaceous glands, prostate growth, and pronounced aggression are all typical. Additionally, it is extremely toxic to the liver. An absolute leader in toxicity among anything you can buy today. And we need to take care of our liver; otherwise, the protein and pharmaceuticals we consume will simply go down the drain.

3. METHYLTTESTOSTERONE

Cheap and effective. This ancient remedy is still popular among powerlifting enthusiasts. Rapid increases in body mass, strength indicators, and strength endurance are the secrets behind methyl's popularity. However, these results crash within the second or third day after stopping the drug. But hey, you spent pocket change and showed off in front of the guys at the gym. Consider it a small win.

Being the least refined substance among all AAS, messing around with methyl is fraught with a full range of side effects typically associated with steroids. It can do everything—total suppression of sex hormone production, androgenic and estrogenic effects, and liver toxicity. Moreover, maintaining the results achieved during its use for even a few weeks after the cycle is impossible.

4. NANDROLONE

Undoubtedly, this steroid has exceptional anabolic abilities. It not only alleviates joint pain but also exerts an anti-inflammatory effect on them. Additionally, endurance and muscle pump during workouts noticeably increase. Nevertheless, nandrolone can disrupt your sexual function for an extended time, especially in athletes over 30. Primarily, erection and spermatogenesis suffer—arguably the most important qualities for any man. However, this does not happen to everyone. Sometimes it occurs only after several cycles. There are also those who tolerate this steroid quite well. Do you want to find out which category you belong to?

5. METHANDROSTENOLONE AND OXYMETHOLONE

Despite their completely different mechanisms of action, these substances are very similar in two respects. Both quickly and effectively increase body mass and strength indicators, ensure fast recovery, and provide a muscle pump with a fantastic sense of self-confidence in one’s athletic results. Yet, neither is capable of stabilizing androgen receptors in muscle cells.

It is impossible to gain real muscle on them, no matter how hard you try. Moreover, both result in a brutal crash post-cycle. There are those who end their cycles on them, only to complain that everything disappeared in a couple of weeks. There are plenty of side effects (typical for steroids) as well. So, perhaps it’s not worth risking your health unnecessarily?

Now let’s move on to substances of a different nature used in the chemical kitchen.

6. GROWTH HORMONE

Somatotropin is considered a magical remedy among enthusiasts. Save up some money, buy a good one, and transform into a shredded monster bursting with muscles—without dieting or putting in much effort at the gym. In reality, the effects of growth hormone are greatly exaggerated. Selling it is profitable, and it doesn’t come cheap. Yes, growth hormone can help both with mass gaining and cutting. It positively affects bone tissue and the nervous system.

However, to achieve noticeable and lasting results, it must be taken for a long time, correctly, and in large amounts. 4-6 IU per day for two to three months will only alleviate joint pain for a while. Moreover, high doses, especially accompanied by AAS and insulin (which is the correct way to use it), can lead to dramatic metabolic changes—sometimes life-threatening. Besides, growth hormone increases everything in the body, including various neoplasms. Additionally, its use can lead to hypofunction of the thyroid gland and the development of diabetes. In my opinion, this is certainly not what an enthusiast needs.

7. INSULIN

Regardless of what people say about the ability to gain weight on insulin without getting fat—don’t believe it. This hormone primarily increases the permeability and sensitivity of fat cells, and muscle cells secondarily. Just look at the mass monsters during the off-season. None of them can do without this substance. Hypoglycemic coma ALWAYS strikes at the most unexpected moment. The dose is individual for everyone. Severe reactions can occur even with just 4 IU. Moreover, your diet while using this should be IDEAL. An average enthusiast cannot afford that. Let’s not forget the rapid increase of visceral fat, including around the heart. I believe everything else is clear.

8. INSULIN-LIKE AND MECHANICAL GROWTH FACTORS

Rumors abound regarding the effectiveness of these substances. However, they are poorly studied and not readily available for the average person in quality form. Application protocols by overseas specialists cost thousands of dollars. Some of our competitive-level enthusiasts use them. I know for sure that it’s done locally via intramuscular injection. The rest is a mystery. What is sold on regular sites as peptides is 100% fake. That seems to be it.

9. DEXAMETHASONE

This corticosteroid became popular through my well-respected acquaintance, Yuri Bombela. However, I cannot agree with him about dexamethasone. There is a protocol for use that supposedly allows one to gain some muscle mass.

We tried this on a few willing participants in practice. The guys were lured by the low cost and accessibility of the substance. In the end, two gained fat in the abdominal area and developed acne, while the third experienced such fluid retention that he had to stop the experiment. No one gained real muscle. In Soviet times, guys from the basements did similar things. I haven’t heard any positive reviews from those times. If I haven’t convinced anyone, I suggest you check the package insert that comes with the medication, especially the section on side effects.

10. SYNTHOL

A lot has been said about this controversial substance. So, I’ll add just the following. The proper use of this oil is the domain of professional medical personnel working with professional bodybuilders. The key word in this sentence is PROFESSIONAL. Those who attempt to handle it by saying, "I can do it!" often end up looking unattractive. Not to mention the risks of hitting deep nerves, inflammatory-purulent processes, and tissue necrosis due to hypoxia and inadequate blood supply. I think it goes without saying the consequences of oil entering a blood vessel are undesirable.

One can easily do without all of this. A sensible enthusiast is someone who not only looks good but also feels good. Believe me, a 50 cm arm alongside a six-pack is entirely achievable without ever resorting to the aforementioned substances. Even at the most advanced amateur level of chemical use, one can manage with a minimal set of pharmaceuticals, given they have some common sense. As for beginners just getting into medications, there’s really nothing more to say. If the resource owner gives the go-ahead, I promise to write something similar about fat-burning substances.
